Maytree Autistic Unit

Project News

Our brief for Maytree Autistic Unit in Swansea was to refurbish the existing toilets for both the children and the staff. The existing toilets had open dished drains in the floor to carry the waste water from the wash hand basins and old woodwool ceilings.

The refurbishment included removing all sanitary ware, cubicles, drainage and plumbing pipes – in fact the rooms were stripped bare then a new floor was laid, with new cubicles and modern sanitary ware. All wash hand basins were enclosed in vanity units and all exposed pipework boxed-in to protect from scalding hot water pipes. Mechanical extractor fan was then installed as required by building control and these were connected to the new lighting modules with sensors – so now when someone enters the WC the lights and the extract fan come on automatically and also switch off after a set period of time, thus saving energy on lights that are left on all day!
